Atletico Madrid defeated Deportivo La Coruna 1-0 with Julian Alvarez scoring the match-winning goal, and following the final whistle, he issued an apology to Atletico Madrid supporters for his remarks made during the World Cup.

Apologizing to the Supporters

Alvarez: “I want to apologize to the supporters for my comments during the World Cup; it was a mistake, both in the way it was expressed and the timing. I understand everyone's anger; if I were a supporter, I would be angry as well. Even more so given how you have always supported me throughout. You have been very forgiving, and I value that immensely. At the same time, I also want to thank the team, because they have stood by me throughout this entire period.”

Regarding His Form

Alvarez: “I am gradually feeling better. I thank all my teammates because they have supported me continuously. I am working hard to improve. In the last few matches I have felt much better, both physically and in possession of the ball. To help the team and give the best of myself.”

Regarding His Mentality

Alvarez: “When someone feels good in their personal life, that translates onto the pitch as well. Even though we are professional players, everything has an impact. I feel good and am ready to fight for everything.”

Regarding the Supporters

Alvarez: "I hope that through hard work and humility, I can turn the current situation around, and I also thank the supporters for their backing during this period."

During the World Cup this past summer, following Argentina's 2-0 victory over Austria, Alvarez publicly expressed his desire to leave Atletico Madrid.
